Who else but our God would put Himself in the position to bear the heavy burden of sin....yours and mine....on His body, in His mind, in His spirit without trying to defend Himself, He Who was without sin? Who else would bear the shame and loneliness, the jeers and taunts, as He hung on our cross. Who else would then die after such torture only to rise, and let us be partakers of the victory only He could have secured?
Who else? No one!
Lord, we stand in awe of Your unfathomable love for us; of Your willingness to submit to horrendous torture on our behalf; of Your desire to fulfill Your destiny so that we could fulfill ours, and for Your extravagant, unimaginable and unequaled
gift to us who did not have to purchase it…who could not have purchased it, but were recipients of its eternal blessings nonetheless.
Lamb of God, You took away the sin of the world. Draw us closer to You by the power of the Holy Spirit so that You would receive the reward of Your suffering as You sit on Your throne receiving all honor and glory forevermore. Amen
